There comes a point in many yoga practitioners' experiences when they want to deepen their practice. this may come in the form of practicing more days each week, experimenting with different styles or teachers, focusing with oneonone instruction, or beginning a home practice. it may also come in the form of taking longer, immersion workshops with well-respected teachers. for me, my yoga practice shifted radically when i started taking weekend workshops and daylong intensives with my primary teacher, rodney yee. during these intensives, i was exposed to a depth in my practice that i hadn't experienced before--and not just because he was such a skilled teacher. my practice strengthened after these experiences because, through them, i had made a sincere commitment to study yoga and give it--and myself--the time and attention that it deserved. i realized that my yoga practice made me happier, more content, and generally saner than anything else in my life, and well, if just made sense to pursue it wholeheartedly. as i develop programming for the yoga program at the mind & body center, i try to bring the richness and vastness ; of the yoga tradition to our students. this way we can all continue to deepen our yoga practice together. this summer, the club will host several workshops that will provide excellent opportunities for you to deepen your yoga practice. and i'm happy to add that each of these workshops will be taught by top instructors who regularly present at the yoga journal conferences. just send an email with your playlist on sunday, june 3, from 1: 30 to p.m., longtime yoga journal contributing editor richard rosen will teach the workshop "homage to the source." this workshop will provide students with the historical context of hatha yoga, as students engage in a vigorous sequence of the 32 poses considered "most useful" by ancient yogic texts. the charge for this event is for members and for guests. then on saturday, july 15, and sunday, july 16, from 2: 00 to p.m., bay club yoga director jason crandell will teach a two-part workshop for continuing yoga students called "what's next: becoming an intermediate student." in this two song and artist ; . include your name and contact number, along with the name of your playlist e.g. my top ten for cardio ; . we're looking for all kinds of playlists: favorite ballads, best songs for a road trip--whatever sounds good to you. if we publish your playlist, we'll send you a club gift certificate and two guest passes for your friends. to enter, simply send your submission to our editor at cblake sfbayclub . good luck! do you have the perfect mix? then we want to hear about! share your good taste with everyone at the club with my top ten. 1. san francisco days--chris isaak 2. who'll stop the rain--ccr 3. prove it all night--bruce springsteen 4. all because of you--u2 5. como te deseo--man 6. get down on it--kool & the gang 7. somebody's baby--jackson browne 8. badlands--bruce springsteen 9. i will not be broken--bonnie raitt 10. rain in the summertime--the alarm "living in this city, one thing is certain--you never know what to expect! from the weather: nonstop rain in march and summer in october, to events like our very own ski jump in pac heights! so whether i'm running on the treadmill at the club or running errands around town, this mix keeps me happy.
